Marathonisi
Marathonisi also known as ‘Turtle Island' because of its formation is a small island situated in the southern part of Zakynthos close to Laganas bay and Keri Lake. It is the place where the turtle Caretta-Caretta lay its eggs and it is a protected area by the National Marine Park. The island has got two beaches one with golden sand and the other with pebbles and you can visit them either on your own by boat or by taking an organized tour. There are also two caves next to the pebble beach which can also be visited.
Blue caves
Situated in the North-West part of the island lie the unique blue caves which are one of the most popular tourist attractions of the island. As their name suggests they reflect the marvelous blue color of the water and are idyllic for boat trips and diving too. You can visit them either on your own by hiring a boat or by taking one of the plenty organized daily tours.
Zante Town
Zante town is one of the places which are worth visiting while staying in Zakynthos.There are numerous shops and restaurants as well as churches, museums and squares. Saint Dionysios church which was named after the saint patron of the island and Solomo’s square where you can see the statue of Dionysios Solomos who wrote the national anthem of Zakynthos are two of the most worthwhile visiting sights during your stay.Zakynthos town is also suitable for walks along the harbour and the town center.Close to Zakynthos town, within walking distance you can find 'Bochali' a small settlement with breathtaking view of the harbour and the town as it is built on a hill overlooking Zante town. There you can also visit the remains of a Venetian castle.
Shipwreck
The world renown Shipwreck is one of the most popular attractions of Zakynthos and one of the most beautiful beaches worldwide. Created after the Shipwreck in the early 1980’s it is one of the most photographed and visited spots due to its unique picturesque environment, white sand and crystal blue waters. This golden beach with the keel of the ship is accessible only by the sea. Daily tours from Zante town, Porto Vromi, Markis Gialos, Saint Nickolas port in the north of the island can take you to this paradise and allow you to indulge yourself in an experience never to be forgotten.
